SAN ANGELO, TX -- There will be a living prayer circle this Saturday at the historical block one downtown before the Veteran's Day Parade beginning at 10:15 a.m.
T-shirts will be sold for $15 with 100% of proceeds going towards Sonrisas Trails riding program and the Veteran's riding program.
The point of this living prayer circle is to pray for our Veterans, our Military and America. The first living prayer circle was to pray for rain and over 1100 people came out to "circle the block" and pray for rain and over $5,000 was raised for Rust Street Ministries. Three weeks later, it rained seven inches and filled the lakes back up.
They need at least 500 people to fill the block and there will be a taco truck provided by John Young with Concho Peal in the parking lot between Dejavu and M.L. Leddy's.
The meat for the tacos is being donated by Twisted Root and all proceeds will also go to Sonrisas Trails and their riding programs.
First Financial bank has donated all of their American flags that will be hung along the street as well.
Sonrisas Trails Public Relations Director Mary Coffey says, "this is a chance for solidarity and to visibly show our Veterans how important (they are) and how much they mean to us." She also comments that their goal is, "for at least that one moment in time, we're all on the same page."
If you would like to volunteer for this event, they need you! You can meet in front of J. Dorotik's Ice House around 9:30 a.m. to help them sell t-shirts and get everything set up.
This is a free, family-friendly activity that all ages can enjoy.
Coffey is, "really looking forward to people putting their differences aside and let's be Americans."
