Drawing for Record Mega Millions Jackpot Being Held Tonight

AUSTIN, TX-- One lucky winner could have their life change forever this weekend.

The jackpot for the Mega Millions lottery has soared to a record-high $970 million, according to the game's website. The cash payout for that prize would be roughly $548 million.

Tickets cost just $2.

The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350. Perspectively, your odds of being struck by lightning are 1 in 700,000.

However, your chances of winning any of the nine prizes offered in the game are 1 in 24. Aside from the jackpot, prize values range from $2 to $1,000,000.

San Angelo has had some luck with recent lottery games. A San Angelo resident won $1 million on a Texas Lottery scratch-off game this week.

The Mega Millions drawing is scheduled for tonight at 10 p.m. central time.

If you don't win tonight's drawing, there's also a chance at the $430 million jackpot on the Powerball. The cash payout would be a more modest $248 million.

The drawing for the Powerball is Saturday night.
