Another Flood Advisory Issued for the Concho Valley

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for the Concho Valley through the noon hour.  

According to the NWS, the flood advisory is for the following counties: Schleicher, Sterling, Brown, Taylor, Runnels, Concho, Irion, Sutton,  Coke,  Callahan, Coleman, Nolan, McCulloch, Tom Green, Crockett, and Menard until 12:30 p.m. At 10:33 a.m. doppler radar indicated moderate to heavy rain that will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area.

Also, expect some street flooding across San Angelo and Abilene due to the heavy rain.

Some locations that will experience flooding include  Abilene, San Angelo, Sweetwater, Coleman, Ballinger, Clyde, Sonora, Winters, Eldorado, Baird, Roscoe, Santa Anna, Robert Lee, Sterling City, Mertzon, Blackwell, Paint Rock, Christoval, Ozona and Maverick.

This includes the following low water crossings Intersections along Buttonwillow Parkway, Southwest Blvd and Loop 306, I-20 Frontage Roads near Baird, I-20 Frontage Roads west of Clyde, Butternut Underpass, Intersections along Sammons Street, Jackson From Knickerbocker to South Bryant, College Hills and Millbrook, Texas Avenue at Arnold Boulevard and Howard and Webster.

Do not drive through these low water crossings or any other low water crossing with water flowing across the roadway.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
