SAN ANGELO, TX-- The San Angelo Live Player of the Week honors for week 6 goes to one of the northside’s very own.
Lake View junior Johnny Espinosa takes home the honor for his performance in the Chiefs last-second loss to Brownfield last Thursday.
The Chiefs fell 34-27 on a touchdown pass with 4 seconds left in the game.
However, the Chiefs made a comeback in the game thanks to Espinosa’s four interceptions and one touchdown. Lake View trailed by two scores in the second quarter before scoring four touchdowns unanswered to take a 27-19 lead in the third quarter.
Espinosa finished the night with four interceptions on defense. Offensively, Espinosa had four catches for 17 yards and a touchdown.
The Chiefs’ defense kept them in the game with six takeaways. Ahmad Daniels also had an interception in the loss.
Espinosa’s interception total for the year is now up to nine.
The Chiefs (1-5) travel this week to take on the Hereford Whitefaces (4-2) in their final nondistrict game of the year.
