Week 6 Players to Watch in the Concho Valley

SAN ANGELO, TX-- Week 6 of the high school football season in the Concho Valley starts tonight with Lake View (1-4) hosting Brownfield (3-2).

It's a thin week with 10 teams enjoying their bye week. However, there are still some big games where players could shine.

Here are the three players to keep an eye on in week 6:

Xy'Kerion Paulk, Central Bobcats, DT, Jr.

The Central Bobcats (4-1, 1-0) get a big test with Euless Trinity (4-0, 1-0) coming to town. In order to have success against the Trojans, Central must limit Trinity's dangerous run game.

Central has proven capable of stopping the run this year by holding opponents to just 72.8 yards rushing. However, they haven't faced an offense quite like Trinity's.

In their Wing-I offense, Trinity is averaging 207.8 yards rushing per game. They do with a big offensive line and by getting to the edge.

To limit that offense, Central has to set the edge and control the line of scrimmage. Paulk can do that.

The junior has been fairly quiet up to this point in the season, but a stage like this game could be the moment where he breaks out.

Ahmad Daniels, Lake View Chiefs, WR, Sr.

The Lake View Chiefs have a very winnable game this week against Class 3A Brownfield.

However, the Chiefs need to make sure their offense is in sync. That's where Lake View has sputtered at times this season.

That means Daniels, the team's leading receiver, and QB Kendall Blue will need to be on the same page.

If they are on the same page, Lake View can capitalize on a susceptible Cub secondary.

If they capitalize, expect Lake View to roll.

Kaiden Kirkland, TLCA Eagles, QB/DB/K, Sr.

The TLCA Eagles (1-3, 0-1) travel to Coleman (1-3, 0-1) looking to snap their two-game skid.

So far, TLCA has not posted great numbers offensively. However, Coleman is allowing an average of 38 points per game.

The Eagles, running the spread offense for the first time, could break out against Coleman and Kirkland would be the guy to lead the charge.

If Kirkland and his receivers get traction in this game, it could be a big win for the Eagles.
