SAN ANGELO, TX -- Are you ready for the weekend? San Angelo is!
The fall festivities begin Saturday with the 2nd Annual Downtown Oktober Fest hosted by Downtown San Angelo and SoCo Taphouse & Brew Co. starting at 2 p.m., the free event will serve as a home to beer, German food, vendors, games and contests, raffles and more. Oktoberfest will feature the Havlak Polka Band as live entertainment until 8 p.m. Streets around the East Concho Ave., South Oakes St. and South Chadbourne St. areas will be blocked for the event.
Come and play with your furry friend at the Celebration of Animals or adopt one at the Homes for Dogs Adoption event.
Celebration of Animals will be held at the San Angelo Dog Park located at 3215 Millbrook Dr. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a Blessing of the Animals officiated by the priest of Holy Angels and both pastors of The Gathering and St. Paul Presbyterian Church.
The first 100 guests will receive free vaccinations, microchips and ID tags! Dr. Schulze from North Bentwood Veterinary Clinic will administer vaccinations, the animal shelter will be inserting michrochips and completing registration, and Concho Valley PAWS staff will provide the ID tags. Additional tags will be available for $5 while supplies last.
Low-Cost spay and neuter vouchers will also be available to the first 100 guests for a $25 purchase. The voucher covers the surgery only and only one voucher per person in line. Fosters and previous adopters are welcomed for a reunion.
The Homes for Dogs Adoption Event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Coldwell Banker Legacy, Realtors located at 3017 Knickerbocker Rd. They are teaming up with Cassie’s Place to help find their pets loving homes.

- Circus Saurus presented by Carson and Barnes Circus, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Foster Communications Coliseum
- San Angelo Comic Con Pre-Party, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Foster Communications Coliseum
