HOUSTON, TX-- Texas country music legend Charlie Robison is being forced into retirement after complications with surgery.
Earlier this year, Robison underwent surgery. That surgery left Robison with a “permanent inability to sing,” according to the artist’s Facebook page.
“It’s been an amazing ride and I cannot tell you all what the last 25 years has meant to me,” Robison added. “I was looking forward to another 25 but as they say ‘shit happens’.”
The singer/songwriter took to music after suffering a career-ending injury in football. He moved to Austin in the 1980s and played in a few bands before going solo in 1996 with his album “Bandera”, Robison’s home base.
Over the last quarter century, Robison has charmed Texas music lovers with songs such as My Hometown and New Year’s Day to name a few.
In Robison’s statement on Facebook, he closed by encouraging fan’s continued support “this thing we call Texas/Red dirt and hopefully we’ll all get to have a cocktail or two and talk about the good ol’ days.”
