WALL, TX-- The Wall Hawks dropped a tough game to Midland Christian on the road this past Friday.
The Hawks trailed 28-7 in the first quarter. Still trailing by 21 at 35-14, the Hawks stormed back with 20 points in the fourth quarter to pull within one. However, the Hawks decided to go for the win with a 2-point conversion. They were unsuccessful and the Hawks suffered their second loss of the year.
Getting the Hawks back in the game was senior running back Sutton Braden. His performance on Friday earned Player of the Week Honors for Week 3.
Braden posted 218 yards on the ground with a pair of touchdowns, including one in the fourth quarter, in the loss to Midland Christian. Those were his first touchdowns this season.
So far, Braden has been the workhorse for the Hawks. He leads the team in rushing with 320 yards on 28 carries. Both of those stats are team-highs for Wall.
The Hawks will face another tough test when they travel to Sonora this Friday.
Wall has won the last eight meetings against Sonora. That includes a 48-20 win over the Broncos the last time these teams squared off in 2015.
Kickoff on Friday is at 7:30 p.m.
