Disaster Averted: Zephyr Wildfire 80 Percent Contained

 

ZEPHYR, TX -- The wildfire near Zephyr, TX that threatened a commercial explosives warehouse is now 80 percent contained according to reports from KTXS.  

According to Clay Bales, a spokesman for the Texas A&M Forest Service, fire crews will spend the entire night monitoring the flames and extinguishing hot spots.

The Texas A&M Forest Service is still investigating a cause for the blaze, which began on Monday afternoon on County Road 259 in Zephyr.

According to the Zephyr Volunteer Fire Department, the explosives plant has more than 70,000 pounds of ammonium nitrate inside of it.
