SAN ANGELO, TX-- Lone Star Gridiron released their Class 6A Preseason All-State team on Monday.
Lone Star Gridiron is one of many websites that covers Texas high school football.
On their preseason All-State team are two Central Bobcats.
Quarterback Maverick McIvor was one of four quarterbacks named to the team. Last season, McIvor stepped into the starting quarterback role and lit up the scoreboard and stat sheets.
The Texas Tech commit put up 4,300 yards of total offense and 52 touchdowns for the Bobcats in 2017, with 3,415 yards and 43 touchdowns coming through the air.
Entering his second season as the Bobcat’s starter, McIvor has had a busy offseason with college teams courting the senior-to-be.
That seemingly ended in June when McIvor made his verbal commitment to the Red Raiders, but Syracuse still offered McIvor his 16th scholarship after his commitment.
One of the most important pieces to McIvor’s success on the field, Gunner Couch, also earned the nod to this preseason All-State list.
Couch is one of four returning starters on the Bobcat’s offensive line and will likely anchor the line from center with the graduation of Jarrett Hill.
This wasn’t the first preseason All-State selection for Couch, as he was named to the Dave Cambpell’s Texas Football Preseason All-State team for Class 6A.
The 6-foot-2, 280-pound senior-to-be has already fielded two offers, one from the Air Force Academy in Division I and the other from the University of Texas-Permian Basin in the Lone Star Conference.
