Severe Weather Heading East to Concho and Runnels Counties as Severe Weather Continues

Southwestern McCulloch County in west central Texas... * Until 1015 PM CDT * At 717 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Brady, Melvin, Brady Lake, Salt Gap, Pear Valley, Us- 190 Near The Menard- Mcculloch County Line and The Intersection Of Us- 190 And Ranch Road 1311. This includes the following low water crossings ... South Blackburn between Adkins and 13th... White Street at Live Oak Creek... County Road 120 crossing east Cow Creek... 17th Street between Pine and College... South High between 14th and 15th Streets... FM 0503 crossing Waloope Creek... Hallum Draw... County Road 158 crossing Bowtie Creek... Low water crossings along County Road 138 and Low water crossings along County Road 158. Do not drive through these low water crossings or any other low water crossing with water flowing across the roadway. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, country roads, farmland, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * This severe thunderstorm will be near, Goodfellow Air Force Base around 835 PM CDT. Wall around 845 PM CDT. Veribest, Mereta, Vancourt and Eola around 900 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include Vick, The Intersection Of Us- 83 And Ranch Road 765, Harriet and The Intersection Of Ranch Road 380 And Ranch Road 381. Northeastern Irion County in west central Texas... * Until 815 PM CDT * At 735 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 16 miles northwest of Arden, or 20 miles south of Sterling City, moving east at 5 mph. HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * this severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern Sterling...northwestern Tom Green and northeastern Irion Counties.

Northeastern Irion County in west central Texas... * Until 730 PM CDT * At 644 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near San Angelo State Park, or 11 miles west of San Angelo, moving southeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Golf ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * This severe thunderstorm will be near, San Angelo State Park around 655 PM CDT. O.c. Fisher Reservoir around 700 PM CDT. At 6:00 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Water Valley, or 16 miles southeast of Sterling City, moving southeast toward San Angelo at 10 mph.

This severe storm will be near... Water Valley around 6:15 p.m. Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include Us- 87 Near The Coke-Tom Green County Line.

If this severe storm remains on course, it will threaten the city of San Angelo.  Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

UPDATED 4:45 p.m.

Flash Flood Warning: At 422 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. More than three inches of rain have already fallen across parts of northern Coke County. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Some locations that will experience flooding include... Robert Lee, Sanco, E.V. Spence Reservoir Near Paint Creek Recreation Area and The Intersection Of Highway 158 And Ranch Road 2059.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning Until 5:15 pm.: At 426 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over E.V. Spence Reservoir Near Paint Creek Recreation Area, or near Robert Lee, moving south at 10 mph.

UPDATED 4:15 p.m. 

At 413 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Robert Lee, moving south at 10 mph.

Tornado and hail up to two inches in diameter.  This dangerous storm will be near... Robert Lee around 4:25 p.m.

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. Heavy rainfall may hide this tornado. At 346 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Sanco, or near Robert Lee, moving southeast at 15 mph.

This dangerous storm will be near... E.V. Spence Reservoir Near Paint Creek Recreation Area around 355 PM CDT. Robert Lee around 410 PM CDT.

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Strong thunderstorms with large hail are approaching the San Angelo area Monday afternoon.  

According to the National Weather Service, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Arden, or 15 miles west of San Angelo at 3:20 p.m. The storm is moving slowly northeast at around 5 mph.

Half inch hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm. In addition, heavy rainfall may cause localized flooding due to the slow movement of the storm.

Forecasters say there is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms across the Big Country this afternoon and evening, and a marginal risk across the rest of West Central Texas. The primary threats are large hail and damaging winds.

The forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. tonight.  Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

There is a 50 percent chance of rain on Tuesday night.
