Grape Creek VFD Hosts Vehicle Rescue Level 2 Classes Over the Weekend

SAN ANGELO, TX — Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department hosted their Vehicle Rescue Level Two certification classes over the weekend.   

The three-day regional training event was a fun, safe, hands-on experience for firefighters from all across the state of Texas. Grape Creek VFD partnered with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service – TEEX, which allows the local fire department to be a regional firefighter training facility.

Career and volunteer firefighters were in attendance of the training course and they came from all around; South Ector County VFD, Irion County VFD, London VFD, Montana Vista VFD, Iraan VFD, Noonday FD, Coleman FD, Klein FD, and Andrew FD.

The weekend was full of education on how to rescue people who have had an accident with large scale equipment, like a cement mixer, buses, over turned 18-wheelers and more.  

“We hope to do this every year, and hopefully have more firefighters from our surrounding areas be present during these trainings,” said Captain Jaymes Lopez with the Grape Creek VFD.

The day would have not been possible without the help of Toby Taylor with Home Motors Inc., Advanced Rescue Systems, the instructors who travel from around the state to teach the classes, training coordinator Captain Jaymes Lopez, Chick-Fil-A, and Domino’s Pizza.

These training sessions are important for our emergency responders to learn so they can provide this service in the field where it is needed most. More training events are coming soon.
