Angelo State University’s New Greenhouse Under Construction

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The Biology Department at Angelo State University is getting a full greenhouse on campus and construction is nearing completion.  

According to ASU’s website, the greenhouse will include three separate spaces for different types of plants.  The facility on Dena Dr. next to the Academic Building will include a tropical room, a xeric room and a temperate room.  

The tropical room is a tropical habitat that features a living wall full of orchids and unique ferns, tanks for aquatic plants, a bog, floating island and carnivorous plants.

The xeric room is features high temperatures, dry habitats, exotic succulents and fascinating cactus.

The temperate room biome features sensory gardens to entice visitors, medicinal plants, food plants and a variety of unusual plants.

The new ASU greenhouse will be used for lab projects and experiments and will enhance the university and the community and the Biology department according to ASU. The facility will is scheduled to be completed this spring.
