SAN ANGELO, TX — The McNease Convention Center will house a wealth of reading material when the 2018 Annual Book Sale kicks off March 23rd through 26th. The fundraiser event, hosted by the Tom Green County Friends of the Library and the City of San Angelo, features large collections of used fiction, non-fiction, magazines, and more at bargain prices.
For those who want access to the biggest and best selection of books, Preview Night is the time to arrive. Current members of Friends of the Library get the first chance to shop for deals. The general public is encouraged to show up early and purchase annual memberships at the door. Most books and media are 25¢ to $1.50. Cash, check, and all major credit cards accepted.
The Annual Book Sale opens to the public free of charge starting Saturday. The Friends will provide boxes and bags donated by local businesses, though serious shoppers can bring their own carts and bags to tote away their treasures.
The event schedule is as follows: Friday, March 23, 2018: Preview Night, 5–9 p.m. ($10 annual membership fee to enter) Saturday, March 24, 2018: Open to the public, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018: Half Price Day, 1–5 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2018: Donation Day, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Throughout the year Friends of the Library volunteers spend hours sorting, organizing, and packing the numerous donations made to the Stephens Central Library. The books then journey from holding to the McNease Convention Center in March, where they may find new owners to delight and entertain. Proceeds raised during the book sale help strengthen the library collections and sponsor programs and activities that enhance use of the Library.
