Wild Pitch Gives Lady Cats Wild Walkoff in Six Innings

 

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The Central Lady Cats run ruled Killeen Ellison 12-2 in six innings on Tuesday night.

Ashton McMillan led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Cats with three RBIs and four runs scored in the win. Madison Stewart added two RBIs to Central's cause. 

McMillan was also a workhorse in the circle by going five innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out 11 Ellison batters to get the winning decision. Additionally, of the 20 batters faced McMillan started 14 of them with strikes.

The Lady Cats got things started off with a flurry by scoring three runs in each of the first two innings in this game. A sacrifice bunt by Ellison before Central's three-run second inning made the score 6-1 going into the third frame. McMillan and Sydnie Gilbert each tallied an RBI in the second inning for Central.

The Lady Cats would allow the second and final Ellison run to come across in the third inning on a Micaiah Howell error on a line drive to first base to make it 6-2 Central.

McMillan would drive in Kaleigh Ochinang on a hustle single in the bottom of the fourth inning before scoring on a wild pitch not long after to extend the Lady Cat's lead to 8-2.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Cats broke Ellison's floodgates. 

McMillan, who reached on another error by Ellison's shortstop, was driven in by a line drive double to left field by Stewart.

Kayla Subia would tally the second Central double of the inning to drive in Stewart, giving the Lady Cats a 9-2 lead. Samantha Howell advanced to third after coming on as a courtesy runner for Emily Sanchez following a walk.

Howell would score two pitches later on yet another wild pitch. to make it 11-2. Subia would give Central the win on a walkoff wild pitch in the sixth inning.

According the GameChanger app, the Lady Cats improve to 3-3 on the year before heading to Corpus Christi for a tournament this Thursday.
