Dangerous Lightning, Hail and Flooding Threaten the Concho Valley Tonight

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- National Weather Service forecasters are predicting thunderstorms overnight in the Concho Valley with the main threats being lightning, hail and flooding.  

According to the NWS, scattered thunderstorms are possible across much of the area
tonight. The main concerns will be small hail, dangerous lightning, and heavy rainfall that may produce minor flooding.

The threat of thunderstorms will continue into Saturday morning, then end rapidly from the west. Much drier conditions will follow for Saturday afternoon, with gusty west winds and a very dry air mass creating elevated fire weather concerns.

The forecast calls for a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 p.m., then areas of drizzle and thunderstorms after 7 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. East southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
