SAN ANGELO, TX— Despite being without their Head Coach Courtney Bliskey, the Lake View Chiefs took the Lubbock Monterey Plainsmen down to the wire in a tough 69-62 loss on Tuesday.
The Plainsmen looked to have the best of the Chiefs, maintaining a double-digit lead through most of the first half and taking a 42-29 lead into the break.
Lake View, however, would storm back in the third quarter with a 15-2 run to tie the game at 44.
Senior Isaiah English led the charge with 16 points in the third quarter. English would finish the night with 29 points as Lake View’s leading scorer.
But Monterey’s De’Quadrick Butler would dispatch the Chiefs with 13 second half points and 30 points overall.
Lake View trailed by as few as four points in the fourth quarter, but turnovers in the front court sealed Lake View’s fate in the final minutes.
Lake View falls to 5-21 overall and 1-5 in district play. The Chiefs travel to Abilene Cooper, a team they’ve previously beaten, on Friday.
