More Winter Weather Projected to Hit Concho Valley

SAN ANGELO, TX-- Another arctic air mass is forecast by the National Weather Service to hit San Angelo and the Concho Valley on Monday night.

A Special Weather Statement was released by the NWS on the matter.

"A strong cold front will move across West Central Texas on Monday Night, bringing much colder temperatures to the area," the NWS said. "Light rain will develop behind the front, eventually changing over to light wintry precipitation early Tuesday morning."

Temperatures are forecast to dip into the 20s on Monday and the NWS forecasts a Tuesday in which the high temperature doesn't get above freezing at 32 degrees.

"Even with only light amounts expected, with temperatures falling into the 20s, icy spots may develop on area roadways and travel may become hazardous in some locations," the NWS weather statement said.

The statement would go on to say that exact details on precipitation and locations of the icy weather would become "more certain."

"There may again be a prolonged period of below freezing temperatures," the NWS said. "So make sure your pipes and pets are well protected."

San Angelo was last hit with icy weather on New Year's Eve, making Loop 306 tough for some drivers.
