SAN ANGELO, TX -- Another long-term business has closed it's doors today.
One long time employee, Tyler Tennell, of the once popular dining chain in San Angelo said he was told there was a general meeting this morning for all Applebee's employees. While it is normal for them to have staff meetings, it was unusual for one to be held on a Monday.
,Once the meeting began, however, it was unlike any of their previous general meetings. They were informed as a staff that effective immediately Applebee's would be closing their doors in San Angelo. staff was offered pay for the next three days if they helped in the clean up.
They were told there was not enough business to support continuing being open. The restaurant was being kept afloat in the area because of their El Paso location, but it has dipped as well, making it impossible to keep the San Angelo location open.
The San Angelo Applebee's is a franchise location owned by El Apple, LLC in El Paso according to Hoover's.

HOORAY !!!!!!! Absolutely, hands down, one of the top 5 crappiest places to eat that has ever come to San Angelo. Sure hope they are quick in taking the signs down too, to help forget that it ever even existed here.

PermalinkThat's funny because I had already assumed that rathole had already been closed down. It's been terrible for years and anyone that says different has no taste buds left or will pretty much eat anything.
Again I hate to see people lose jobs but don't worry if there's one thing San Angelo knows how to do is bring in more minimum wage or restaurant service jobs to the area. Gotta feed those hungry oilfield workers they so desperately pray everyday will be coming.
