SAN ANGELO, TX-- The Central Bobcats may have a bye week this week, but that hasn't stopped Junior Quarterback Maverick McIvor from garnering statewide attention for his performance in a come-from-behind victory over Killeen Shoemaker last week.
The most recent attention comes from Fox Sports Southwest, as they awarded McIvor the 6A Built Ford Tough Player of the Week.
McIvor tallied 201 rushing yards, 228 passing yards, and seven total touchdowns in last Thursday's victory.
So far in 2017, the Junior gunslinger has thrown for 1,245 yards, rushed for 452 yards, and has accounted for 20 touchdowns en-route to Central's 4-0 start.
McIvor joins good company among past Central quarterbacks to win the weekly award, as Brennen Wooten won the award in 2015 and Mickey Scott in 2013.
This weekly honor is given to a player in every classification from 6A to 1A.
McIvor was also nominated for the Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week award earlier this week.
Following their bye week, the Bobcats will travel to Ratliff Stadium in Odessa on Oct. 6 to take on Odessa High and begin district play.
