Fort Concho Elementary Makes Green Step for the Future

SAN ANGELO, TX-- On Monday, Fort Concho Elementary, in conjunction with Texas Disposal Systems, implemented a new recycling system for the school.

"We're excited and honored to bring the TDS Eco Academy program to our school," said Fort Concho Elementary Principal Lori Barton in a press release. "We share TDS' passion for educating on how to live healthy lifestyles and improve the enviornment."

The Eco Academy program is intended for kids from kindergarten up to the 12th grade and, according to TDS, is designed to teach kids how to minimize waste while also giving the kids the tools to "lead green lifestyles".

The program will instruct kids with a formal curriculum and instructional videos, signage, and "other collateral". These educational services are intended to "enable real world application" and "make learning fun" according to the TDS press release.

"TDS is committed to educating the communities it serves in order to raise broader public awareness about the importance of minimizing waste," said TDS co-owner, CEO, and president Bobby Gregory. "We're excited to introduce the Eco Academy in San Angelo." 

The Eco Academy has been implemented at 11 other public school districts across the state, including Georgetown and Lake Travis ISDs in Austin and Hays ISD.
