SAN ANGELO, TX -- 35-year-old Oscar Nino Jr. was facing five to 99 years or life in prison and a $10,000 fine for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of assault of a family member but left the courtroom Monday morning with ten years probation and a $2,500 fine.
Nino was accused of threatening two men with a knife in Kirby Park, 1402 Edmund Blvd. on May 16, 2016. The victims are identified in court documents as Tyler Shilling and Caleb Hudson. The charges were enhanced because Nino was convicted of manufacture and delivery of drugs in federal court in 2005.
District Judge Jay Weatherby accepted the State’s plea deal and sentenced Nino to ten years deferred adjudication and ordered him to pay a fine of $2,500 on the two aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges.
On the assault of a family member causing bodily injury with a previous charge, Nino pled guilty in exchange for a suspended ten year sentence and ten years probation. The victim was in the courtroom Monday.
Nino is accused of grabbing the victim by the hair and by the arm causing bodily injury on July 26, 2016. According to testimony, the victim asked that Nino be able to have contact with her and Judge Weatherby agreed to that request.

PermalinkI guess next time when he kills someone they will slap him on the hand and open the door and let him out. Then put some in jail for 99 years that walk on the wrong side of the road. The court system in Tom Green needs to be overhauled
