Aggravated Assault, Family Violence and Drugs Top Weekend Crimes

Since Friday, 91 people made their way to the Tom Green County Jail for a variety of crimes. Out of those arrests, 41 people were booked on new complaints; 14 people had both new complaints and outstanding warrants; and, 36 people were booked solely on outstanding warrants.

The crimes to top the new complaint list were assault and drug related. In fact, two San Angelo men went to jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

On May 15, at 5:41 a.m., Unice White, 37, was booked into the TGCJ after he pulled a knife on man he got into a fight with at the Hookah Lounge.

Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for the San Angelo Police Department, said officers were dispatched to the Lounge at 1634 S. Chadbourne, just before 3:30 a.m., in reference to a fight call.

When officers responded, they found the male victim who pointed White’s car out to them as the vehicle was leaving the scene.

“Officers conducted a traffic stop and White was detained during the field investigation,” Gonzalez said. “A box cutter was located in his pocket.”

In addition to White, Oscar Nino, 34, pulled a weapon on a San Angelo man yesterday at Kirby Park.

Officer Gonzalez said, at approximately 9:45 p.m., SAPD officers were dispatched to the park on Edmund Blvd. for the report of an aggravated assault. When officers arrived, the victim told them a man, identified as Nino, threatened him while displaying a knife. The victim said Nino was in a white pickup parked on the north side of the parking lot.

Officers located the truck and Nino, and they located two knives inside the vehicle.

“A detective was called on the scene,” said Gonzalez. “Several interviews took place, and, based on the information learned, the detective had probable cause to arrest and charge Nino.”

In addition to these two aggravated assaults with deadly weapons, 10 people were arrested for assault causes bodily injury and assault family violence.
