Showers and Thunderstorms Crawling Through The San Angelo Area Today

SAN ANGELO, TX —  A line of stationary showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall from 15 miles north of Sterling City to just west of Robert Lee to east of San Angelo including Harriet, Orient, Vancourt and Live Oak will produce rainfall amounts of 1/2 inch or more through Noon. Over 1 inch can be expected just southwest and west of Robert Lee. Street flooding and flooding of low lying areas is possible.

At 11 a.m. the national weather service issued  an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Southern Coke County in west central Texas, Eastern Tom Green County in west central Texas, and Southwestern Concho County in west central Texas until 200 p.m.

At 10:57 a.m. Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms across central Coke and central Tom Green counties. These storms are drifting slowly westward at less than 10 mph. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen. Additional rain may cause flooding of small streams and poor drainage areas. Some locations that will experience flooding include San Angelo, Robert Lee, Orient, Wall, Grape Creek, Veribest,Eola, and US-277 near the Tom Green-Coke County Line. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area.

This additional rain will create minor flooding. Do not drive through these low water crossings or any other low water crossing with water flowing across the roadway. Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads as most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
