SAN ANGELO, TX — A new era of athletics has begun at Lake View High School. Today, Hector Guevara was named the Lake View Chiefs new Campus Athletics Coordinator/Head Football Coach to succeed Doug Kuhlmann who recently resigned to accept a position in th Austin area.
Guevara comes to the San Angelo ISD from Bovina ISD located 90 miles southwest of Amarillo. Guevara has been on the Bovina High School campus since 1998, most recently serving as the school’s athletic coordinator and head football coach since 2006. During Guevara’s time as head football coach, Bovina has been a perennial playoff team, advancing to the post-season in 7 of the past 11 years. Twice, he’s taken Bovina to the 3rd round of the playoffs – in 2010 and 2011. Last season, Guevara coached the Bovina Mustangs to a 9-2 overall record. This season, Bovina was ranked in the top 20 in their classification by several pre-season publications.
With pre-season workouts slated to begin on August 7th for the Chiefs, Guevara will soon hit the ground running. Lake View opens their season September, 1st at San Angelo Stadium against Andrews High School.

Hello Gentleman:
I happen to know Hector very well. Bovina is a town of 1500 people. Graduating class size averages 20 kids. In which case, this limits the football talent. All the boys generally play football. Hector works with what he has and had done a great job for Bovina over the years. Bovina was the school he played for as a kid and wanted to come back home to make Bovina a tough team. Give him the opportunity to do this for your school.
