SAN ANGELO, TX — After a volleyball season with several exciting playoff runs, Tom Green County had numerous athletes honored Monday on the Texas Girls Coaches Association all-state team.
Water Valley led the way with four players on the 1A team — juniors Janaye Coston, Autumn Fitzpatrick and Rylee Sears, along with sophomore McCaylen Woods.
Water Valley had a Cinderella run to the state final after finishing as the runner-up in its district. The Lady Cats lost to Blum in the state championship match and finished with a record of 26-15.
Veribest had three selections on the 1A team — senior Shaelee Leal, junior Chloe Becker and freshman Kaci York. The Lady Falcons reached the regional final and had a record of 31-10.
Wall had three players named to the 3A team after its best season in program history. The Lady Hawks went 35-8 and reached the state semifinals for the first time ever after upsetting No. 1 Holliday in the regional final.
Wall’s all-state selections were juniors Peyton Dickson, Lexi Kemp and Kynlee Stevens.
Sterling City was represented by sophomore Charley Jo Wilson on the 2A team after the Lady Eagles went 23-16 and advanced to the regional final.
Another West Texas selection in 2A came from Wink senior Delaney Dodd-Fernandes. The Lady Wildcats went 30-16 and advanced to the regional semifinals.
