Dark, Uncontrolled Intersection Ends Plans for Family Fun at Rodeo

The late model Honda Odyssey was northbound on Volney Ave., headed to the rodeo when she crossed into the uncontrolled intersection with 22nd St. The intersection is dark and poorly lit.  The dark blue Pontiac Grand Am was headed east on 22nd and the two vehicles met near the middle of the intersection.

The Odyssey hit the Grand Am near the passenger side rear door causing the Grand Am to spin 90 degrees. The Odyssey lost control and ran into the vacant lot on the northeast corner of the intersection.

The Honda’s tailpipe and front grill were torn from the vehicle as it traveled across the relatively rough terrain of the vacant lot and came to a stop approximately the back half of the empty lot.

The female driving the Odyssey was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Investigating San Angelo Police Officer Jones said that there will be no moving citations issued, but the driver of the Grand Am was operating his vehicle with a suspended license and will be cited.

1) maybe they missed the black car because it is, in fact, BLUE. and 2) No matter what the markings are at an intersection, you're supposed to be PAYING ATTENTION, just in case someone else ISN'T. One clue might have been the light beams from the crossing car....most wrecks are complete stupidity, assumptions, and arrogance, around here lately.
