SAN ANGELO, TX – Many people may have heard of San Angelo's non-profit agency, Meals For The Elderly (MFTE), but few may not realize how big of an impact the local non-profit organization has on Tom Green County and the surrounding areas.
Through gifts, grants, donations, fundraisers, and the countless hours given by many kind hearted and dedicated volunteers, MFTE helps feed over 700 seniors everyday who might otherwise go hungry. The majority of the seniors MFTE serve are homebound and reside in San Angelo, Carlsbad, Christoval, Grape Creek, Harriett, Miles, Orient, Veribest, and Wall.
Becca Edens, Marketing & Event Director for MFTE said, "we have a small office staff and [we] are very thankful for our many volunteers. Sometimes we get super busy around here as right now we are preparing for our next fundraising event.” Their next fundraising event Edens explained, will be on Saturday, June 10. MFTE and their title sponsor CalTech, will host the 12th Annual Sporting Clay Shoot at the San Angelo Claybird Association, located at 13525 Duncan Road-off HWY 67.
Breakfast and shooter registration starts at 7 a.m. Saturday, June 10, and the first rotation begins promptly at 8am. The second target course will begin at 11 a.m. A registration fee of $165 per shooter is required. The fee includes breakfast, lunch, and a rotation of 100 targets. Trophies will be awarded to the top two shooters: top female shooter and top youth shooter.
Additionally, all shooters will have the chance to win a grand prize and 1 of every 10 attendee will win their choice of a $750 gift certificate to Field & Streams Sporting Goods or $500 cash. The winners must be present to win.
Edens added, "this year’s live auction features everything from guns to camping equipment. Raffle tickets can also be purchased for $10 each or 5 for $40, for a chance to win a 12 gauge, Winchester Super X3 Ultimate Sporting Adjustable, valued at $1,870, and participants need not be present to win [the raffle ticket prize]."

Meals For The Elderly is a private, charitable nonprofit organization, devoted to serving the homebound elderly with one hot, nutritious meal a day, seven days a week, while ensuring their individual well-being through personal contact. This independent organization maintains an operating cost of just $3.50 per meal. Since 1974, Meals For The Elderly has provided meals for the homebound without being a government or United Way agency.
Edens concluded, "we are 'aiming' to feed the elderly of Tom Green County, so come on out and join the fun while supporting this worthy cause!"
