‘Across the Plains of Texas From Sea to Shining Sea’ - Lee Greenwood to Play San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX—Country music legend Lee Greenwood is coming to San Angelo.  According concert promoter Joshua Haynes of West Texas Concerts, Greenwood will perform at the McNease Convention center on Sunday July 30 at 7 p.m., but he said this is not an official announcement. Tickets will go on sale sometime next week online. Haynes said ticket prices will be in the $40 to $80 range. About 1,200 tickets will be available and the concert will be similar in format as the Travis Tritt performance earlier this year.

Jim Bass Ford is the title sponsor for the concert.  Friday, the dealership will hold a contest to give away a limited supply of VIP "meet and greet" concert tickets to active duty military members, police, fire and EMS personnel as part of their Military and First Responders Appreciation Day from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Best known for his hit “God Bless the U.S.A.”, Greenwood has released over 20 albums and 35 singles including “I.O.U.,” “Somebody’s Gonna Love You,” “Dixie Road” and many others.  “God Bless the U.S.A.” was released in 1984 but became popular nationwide during the 1991 Gulf War and then again after the Terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.  In 2008 President George W. Bush appointed Greenwood to a six-year term on the National Council on the Arts.
