City of San Angelo Preps for Easter Weekend

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - On Friday, April 14, most City of San Angelo offices will close in observance of Good Friday. However, garbage collection and landfill operations will continue as normal, said a city press release.

The release noted that Fort Concho's Visitor Center in Barracks 1 will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Good Friday and the following day. The fort, 630 S. Oakes St., will also be open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Easter Sunday. Self-guided tours will be available throughout the weekend.

The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) offices, which are normally closed on Fridays, will also close Thursday, April 13. WIC's Ballinger clinic will close on Good Friday.

Other City operations that will close for Good Friday include:

  • Station 618 and Santa Fe Crossing senior centers
  • Southside and Carl Ray Johnson recreation centers
  • McNease Convention Center
  • San Angelo-Tom Green County Health Department
  • Fairmount Cemetery's business offices
  • Municipal Court
  • San Angelo Nature Center
  • San Angelo Animal Shelter
  • Parks and Recreation offices

The Nature Center, located at 7409 Knickerbocker Rd., will be hosting an Easter EGG-stravaganza from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 15. Admission is $5 for non-members, $3 for members and free for children younger than 4. The TLC Annual Easter Fest will also take place that day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Texas Bank Sports Complex, 509 Rio Concho Drive.

For those families who want to enjoy the outdoors, entry frees will be collected at Spring Creek and Middle Concho parks on Good Friday. Fees are collected in the two Lake Nasworthy parks on weekends and holidays from March through Labor Day. Entry and camping permits can be purchased at the parks' entrances. Camping permits can also be purchased at Spring Creek Marina in Spring Creek Park. Entry fees are $3 per vehicle for San Angelo residents and $6 per vehicle for non-residents. Camping fees are $6 per night for San Angelo residents and $12 per night for non-residents.

City offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, April 17.
