BRADY, TEXAS – On Wednesday morning, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Brady police officers observed an individual walking a dog directly behind a 7-Eleven convenience store, located in the 1800 Block of South Bridge Street. He was later found to be carrying various amounts of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Brady Police said the individual was observed carrying multiple guitars and travel-type bags on his person and circling the area between South High Street and the aforementioned convenience store for several minutes. Based on the time of day, as well as the individual’s actions, officers decided to conduct a welfare check on him to make sure he was okay.
Upon approaching the male, officers asked for his identification, and verbally identified him as Hollis Mack Davis, 34, who stated that he was looking for a place to stay for the evening. Davis told officials he was searching for the nearby Holiday Inn, despite walking in the opposite direction.
While remaining verbally cooperative, Davis seemed unexplainably nervous and could not provide competent responses to the questions asked by the officers. Due to this suspicious behavior, officers asked for and received Davis’ permission to search his person and belongings. During the search, officers found several hypodermic needles loaded with crystal methamphetamine and small, clear bags of crystal methamphetamine weighting 0.72 ounce. Furthermore, officers found rolling papers, a digital weight scale, and various other pieces of drug paraphernalia.
Based on these findings, Davis was arrested and transported to the McCulloch County Sheriff’s Office, where he was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1. Davis was also booked and jailed pending arraignment by a magistrate. The officer’s encounter with Davis was recorded via body camera.
