Fire Burns Near YMCA Building Downtown

 

A fire has broken out in the 200 block of W Twohig Ave near near the YMCA building downtown. The SAPD calls for service logs indicate a call for emergency assistance came in at 6:38 p.m.

Update 7:03 p.m.

The source of the fire is a Hummer located in the First National Bank of Mertzon ATM drive thru. The fire was extinguished quickly and is no longer ablaze.  

Update 7:18 p.m.

The fire is out, however Fire Marshall Thomas Truett reports that the cause is still under investigation. The extent of damage to the building has not been formally assessed, however eyewitnesses say it appears minimal. The stucco siding has been singed.
