Ex-Boyfriend of Dead Real Estate Agent's Daughter Under Suspicion

SAN ANGELO, TX - Since December 12, the Abilene Police Department have been working non-stop to solve the murder case of Tom Niblo, an Abilene real estate agent. Now, a former boyfriend of Tom Niblo’s daughter is being investigated in connection to Niblo’s death.

Abilene Police have obtained a search warrant this past Tuesday to search 35-year-old Clay Brummett’s phone, KTXS reported. According to an affidavit, Brummett was previously engaged in a long-term relationship with one of Niblo’s daughters. Police say that the relationship ended on bad terms, and Brummett was clearly still upset.

Further information from the affidavit stated that Brummett gave “conflicting times” for when he started his morning, yet, he was very sure of his afternoon endeavors. The affidavit further states that Brummett had not talked to Niblo for a long period of time until “apporximatly two weeks prior to the murder.”

Due to these suspicious actions, the police want to review calls, texts, and data logs from Brummett’s cell phone. Furthermore, police want to review Brummett’s GPS data to learn more about the whereabouts of his cell phone between the dates of November 28 and December 19. Police believe all this information is related to the offense of the murder.

Luke Sweetser

Additionally, last week, APD officials were working toward obtaining phone records from Luke and Elloise Sweetser. On December 14, LIVE! reported that Luke Sweetser had been arrested in Abilene and was being held on a $400,000 bond after being charged with theft of a firearm. According to the warrant obtained by KTXS, police had found several stolen guns inside a safe owned by Luke Elloise in a storage facility. That warrant issued to search Sweetser’s phone did not include GPS records; the warrant did allow, however, for APD to search web history, app data, as well as social media messages and call and text logs.

Despite the police’s interest in several subjects, no one has been charged with Niblo’s murder. See here for LIVE’s initial story on this tragic incident.
