SAN ANGELO, TX - Today, the San Angelo Police Department is continuing its investigation into a shooting that occurred last night in the unit block of W. Avenue O (see our original story here).
Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzalez said, just before 9:30 p.m., SAPD officers were dispatched to the residence for the report of a shooting.
"Officers arrived and located a 31-year-old San Angelo man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound," said Gonzalez. "Officers provided first aid to the victim until Fire Department Medics arrived. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries."
Gonzalez added that Crime Scene Investigations and Criminal Investigations responded to the scene to further investigate.
She said, "It was discovered that a Hispanic male assaulted and shot the victim in front of the victim’s residence then stole a red 1991 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck the victim had been operating. After the shooting, the victim went to a neighbor’s house for help."
Physical evidence of the shooting was located at the crime scene. The suspect is still at large; however, investigators are pursuing several leads.
