Another pair of clever meth heads were busted driving around with their dope in plain sight on Sunday, after San Angelo Police pulled them over for a traffic stop due to a defective headlight.
The 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe had been traveling in the 4100 block of Sunset at around 8:30 p.m. when officers initiated a traffic stop and made contact with both the male driver and the male passenger.
During a computerized records search of the driver, it was determined that he had three outstanding City Warrants. The driver was identified as James Ramirez (DOB 07-28-77) of San Angelo.
As officers conducted the traffic investigation, they observed suspected narcotics in plain view inside the vehicle. Police K9 Officer H. Miller and his partner, Police Service Dog Thor, were requested to the scene. Upon their arrival, Officer Miller directed Thor to conduct an interior “sniff” of the vehicle. Thor gave a positive indication that narcotics were present inside the vehicle.
The suspected narcotics were field tested and showed a positive response for methamphetamine.
Ramirez was charged with Felony1 Manufacture Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (>4-200g) and his outstanding Warrants. He was transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.
The passenger was released at the scene.
