Trial Dates Set for Capital Murder, Child Sex Offenses, Arson and CVS Robbery

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – On Monday, at the Tom Green County Courthouse, Courtroom A overflowed with men and women in orange. The sounds of chains rattled through the courtroom, and defense attorneys, District Attorneys and Assistant District Attorneys worked with Judge Jay Weatherby to work through criminal pre-trial affairs.

Back in the courtroom sat Stephano Culbreath, who faces a capital murder charge and possession of a controlled substance, first degree and third degree felonies. Culbreath, “on or about July 25, 2015,” shot David Titus, and his body was found in the 200 block of W. 13th St. Read more here and here.

Culbreath’s attorney, Jessica Skinner, appeared with her client and D.A. Allison Palmer. They determined Culbreath’s jury trial will be held in October, and Culbreath has another pre-trial set for Oct. 4.

Additionally, six men charged with sexually assaulting, and/or indecency with children, attended their pre-trial hearings.

Alejandro Perez, 52, charged with Indecency w/Child Sexual Contact with a child younger than 17, has a jury trial scheduled for Sept. 19; however, he will have another pre-trial hearing on Sept. 14.

Francisco Blanco, 47, charged with two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child younger than 14 and Indecency w/Child Sexual Contact in 2012, has a jury trial set for Sept. 19. He will also have another pre-trial hearing on Sept. 14.

Angelo Luis Colon, 72, Michael Ray Flores, 21, Jonathan Gould, 28, and Robert Profit 24, all indicted for sexual crimes against children, also appeared in court.

In Colon’s case, the court is waiting for medical records, and his jury trial is set for November. He will have another pre-trial hearing on Nov. 1.

Flores’ jury trial so far is scheduled for Sept. 19, and his pre-trial is set for Sept. 14.

Gould is scheduled for an October jury trial, and he too will have another criminal pre-trial on Oct.4. Additionally, Profit’s jury trial will be held Nov. 14, and his pre-trial hearing is set for Nov. 1.

Chelsea Strube, 33, who was indicted for arson, was also at court Monday. Readers may remember that story as the “Big Bag of Crazy” (more here). Her jury trial was reset to Nov. 14, and she too will have another pre-trial on Nov. 1.

Finally, Christopher Salmon, 28, charged with robbing CVS downtown for pain medication (see here), had his jury trial passed from September to October. He will have another pre-trial on Oct. 4.
