A San Angelo man in jail for meth has been served with a warrant accusing him of the murder of 24-year-old David Titus.
Police served Stephano Miguel Culbreath with the warrant on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in the Tom Green County Jail. The 46-year-old has been in the correctional facility on a drug charge since 6:40 p.m. Saturday, just 13 hours after the body of Titus was found lying dead in the 200 block of 13th street with a gunshot wound to the neck.
Criminal Investigations Commander Lieutenant David Howard confirmed Culbreath's alleged connection to the homicide Wednesday evening.
"The detectives, special operations and crime scene personnel worked very hard over the past few days to gather the evidence needed to make this arrest," he said.
The investigation, led by Detective Jeremy Cannady, is ongoing.
Culbreath does not have a criminal record in Tom Green County aside from the possession charge. Prior to being served the warrant, Culbreath was being held in lieu of a $50,000 surety bond. A bond amount has not yet been set for the murder.
Murder is a first-degree felony punishable by five to 99 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
