Community Feedback Needed for Future Transportation Planning

The San Angelo Metropolitan Planning Organization (SA-MPO) is the transportation planning agency that helps determine transportation priorities to improve the community. Enabling community participation by gathering public viewpoints on infrastructure project priorities is a primary responsibility of SA-MPO.

SA-MPO has commissioned Community Development Initiatives (CDI) at Angelo State University to conduct a study in order to provide planners and decision-makers with community perspectives about the existing transportation network, as well as transportation planning. The results will help SA-MPO in the development of its long-range 2015-2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan and in prioritizing future transportation projects for the San Angelo area.

SA-MPO is asking for community support and input through this study to understand the needs of its residents in order to identify priorities and shape transportation planning. The survey will help community leaders focus policy on goals, objectives, and strategies to address the core transportation opportunities and challenges facing our community.

The Transportation Needs Assessment Survey will collect public opinion from San Angelo area residents between January and March of this year.

Online surveys can be accessed through the SA-MPO website: www.sanangelompo.org. SA-MPO will organize community events to distribute information about the survey, as well as paper versions of the survey. You may also contact SA-MPO if your organization or group would like a presentation to learn more about SA-MPO and/or the survey.
