Tonight and Saturday night, there will be two locations hosting a movie showing that will be free to the public.
Friday night KCSA will be showing Jurassic World in the parking lot at 17 East Twohig, between the Cactus Hotel and Miss Hattie’s. Concessions will be available during the movie showing.
On Saturday, August 13, Disney Pixar’s Zootopia will be being shown in Kirby Park, located at 1400 Edmund Blvd.
Both locations will begin showing their movies around late dust to dark. This time is roughly around 9:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
The San Angelo Recreation Department has put together the movie showing of Zootopia. Brent Casey, Recreation Manager said, “We’re expecting to get 400 people or more out there.”
On the City of San Angelo webpage is states, “Families are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs and refreshments. Glass containers are not allowed in City parks and pets must be leashed.”
In case of rainy weather, the movie at Kirby Park won’t be canceled. The movie will simply be moved under the awning where the basketball court is.
“I would suggest people get there around 8:30 to pick a good spot,” Casey added.
Kona Ice and Semper Fresh Kettle Corn will also be selling their goodies out at Kirby Park for the community to enjoy.
As planned right now, the Recreation Department has two other movies planned for the rest of the year. Monsters Inc. will be shown on October 22, with a pumpkin painting available for the public. On December 10, The Santa Claus will be shown with free hot cocoa.
