For the past week, the internet has been abuzz with talk of internationally known rapper 'Snoop Dogg' coming to Club Amnesia in San Angelo Texas. A flier for the event on Amnesia 325's Facebook page has a photo referring to him as "DJ Snoopadelic" and bills the show as "The Official High Road Summer Tour Pit Stop."
For decades, the general consensus was "nobody big comes to San Angelo." In an attempt to validate that an artist of this magnitude was indeed coming our way, several attempts were made to contact the event holder, management company, resident DJ of the club, and artist for confirmation. As of Wednesday, August 10, only one individual associated with the event has offered any information.
The source, who wishes to remain anonymous, stated via phone interview that the "real Snoop Dogg" is in fact coming to San Angelo on Monday August 22.
"I wanna say he's gonna do a DJ set and little live performance," the source said.
As for who is responsible for bringing in an artist of such great magnitude to San Angelo, they said, "That cannot be disclosed."
Regarding ticket sales, they said, "they will probably be available until the day of the show" and "It's gonna be a good show-a packed house-I'm more than sure. There will be an announcement when it is sold out."
According to the artist's official website snoopdogg.com, at this time, there is no mention of San Angelo on the schedule, but the source said they "follow him (Snoop Dogg) on Instagram and Twitter and saw where he announced he would be in San Angelo on the 22nd." There is a post on Twitter @SnoopDogg, from August 5, naming San Angelo and August 22, but as to who posted it is still unverified.
Snoops website also lists him being in Austin, Texas on the 21st and Las Cruces N.M. on the 23rd, however, Live Nation lists Snoop being in Albuquerque on the 23rd. That part of the tour is listed as "MERRY JANE Presents Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa: The High Road Tour with the lineup of: Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Kevin Gates, Jhene Aiko, Casey Veggies, and DJ Drama."
The source said they "didn't think he was bringing anyone with him" for the San Angelo event. They added (regarding the show), "It is on a Monday, but will be over by midnight so people can get up and go to work the following day. It's the 'real' show and we're looking forward to it. We hope everybody can come out and have fun."
In the early 1990s, when MTV had music videos, Snoop Doggy Dogg, a.k.a. Calvin Broadus Jr., exploded onto the scene changing "Rap" music as we knew it forever. Although his demeanor was mild mannered and laid back, that and his silky smooth lyrics contradicted his attire and those he was associated with. It was rumored he was a criminal and into the gang lifestyle, but regardless to how the naysayers and the media portrayed him, his devoted fans have remained forever faithful.

Even for those people who weren't on this earth at that time of his emergence, followers all have one thing in common: a copy of 'Doggystyle' in their collection. This 45-year-old Long Beach, California native has reinvented himself many times over the last 2 1/2 decades, and has collaborated with countless heavyweights in the industry of whom many have also become die hard fans.
Whether he be Snoop D, oh double g, Tha Doggfather, or Snoop Lion, many will agree the video "Who am I (What's my name)?", with over 42 million views on YouTube, set the foundation for this legend years ago.

Despite what many of his earlier videos portray, nowadays, Snoop is a devoted father and husband, mentor to youth nationwide with his 'No Limit' attitude of giving, and has that ever popular nonchalant attitude of better living through "natural elements." These are just a few of the things that intrigue a fan, and the music of course. So be sure and mark your calendars; Snoop Dogg, Monday, Aug. 22 at 4611 S. Jackson Street.
