Local Band American Way to Perform at Blaine's This Thursday

Over the last few months, local band American Way, est 2016, has been making the rounds in the San Angelo club scene and will be hitting the stage at Blaine's Pub Thursday night, June 9. The group is comprised of Matt "Chewy" Linton, "the pulse of the band," who showcases his his wide musical range and unparalleled skills on the bass guitar and vocals. Elmer Chapman brings a soulful sound on lead guitar and vocals, while David Cline is on rhythm guitar and adds his dynamic harmonies. Behind the drums, Dustin Lawson is the heartbeat of the group, making sure the crowds' high energy continues and keeping the party vibe going; and rounding out the quintet is front man James Perez, lead vocalist, whose versatility brings it all together.

As for their genre, it could be categorized as somewhat "eclectic." Playing the fans' favorite 90s rock, pop, today's Texas country hits, and even a rap song or two, they are so diverse they were even videoed at one local club inciting a "Conga line" as they played Richie Valens' famous hit "La Bamba!" One thing is for sure, this multi-talented band, with experience in all formats, will entertain all preferences of any age or demographic.

Linton describes himself as a "husband, father, musician, angler, hunter and just an all around small-town Country boy," but he is also quite the entrepreneur. He even has some of his own original compilations on Soundcloud and welcomes everyone to check them out and give feedback, including the must hear "Breathing." Although he's a rocker and does enjoy having "fun," Linton stays grounded as noted by his knuckle tattoos citing "Phil (Philippians) 4:13," which is, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

"I have been blessed with a talent so why not share it?" Linton asked.

Percussionist Lawson, also a "family oriented" man, is self-employed by day and a musician "after hours." He proudly posted (on his Facebook page) a photo of himself teaching his toddler to play drums, and said, "We have another drummer in the family and he totally loves it!" Musicians tend to spend countless hours perfecting their craft, and when family is involved, especially children, it makes the experience take on a whole new meaning in the area of success.

Linton added that the band members all play an integral part (in this compilation) and are "especially appreciative of our Audio Engineer Greg Martin, Silvara Lawson for lending her amazing voice on some classic hits, and of course our families, friends, and fans. Every show is an interactive, non stop, high energy, great time to remember, and we appreciate the city of San Angelo for all their support!"

Don't forget to thank the club staff for bringing live entertainment to San Angelo and have a good time!
