A press release from the San Angelo Public Information Division announced today that the San Angelo-Tom Green County Health Department has decreased the price of immunizations for qualifying children. The charge for qualifying children receiving immunizations has decreased to $14.85 per child per visit. Previously, the cost was $22.
The Texas Department of State Health Services notified the local Health Department on Thursday that, effective immediately, the maximum administration fee providers in the Texas Vaccines for Children program may charge to eligible patients who do not have Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance (CHIP) will be $14.85 per dose. The Health Department charges TVFC patients a per-visit fee, regardless of how many vaccinations a child receives during a visit.
The Texas Vaccines for Children program provides free vaccines to health care providers to immunize uninsured and underinsured children from birth to 18 years of age.
The cost decrease impacts only vaccinations for children. Adult vaccines remain $22 per injection.
Located in Suite 8 at 2030 Pulliam St., the Health Department conducts a weekly immunization clinic each Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Health Department’s normal operating hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
