The City of San Angelo Public Information Division said today that the Love Municipal Pool would offer free admission and a luau party during the first two hours of its summer season opening Saturday, May 28.
Those who enter the pool from noon to 2:00 p.m. will receive free leis, snacks and other goodies. After 2:00 p.m., regular admission will be $5 for ages 3 and older; free for children 2 and younger; $3 for seniors 65 and older. Season passes cost $75 per person or $200 for a family of four. It will be $25 for each additional family member over four.
The pool at 18 E. Avenue A will be open to the public from noon to 6:00 p.m. through Memorial Day on Monday, May 30, during the opening weekend. The pool will be open for public swimming from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays through Labor Day. It will be closed every Monday after Memorial Day for maintenance.
Lap swimming is available from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, beginning May 31.
Registration for swim lessons continues with limited spaces still available. Registration and the purchase of season passes are available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays at the Recreation offices in Santa Fe Crossing, 702 S. Chadbourne St.
Swim lessons are offered for parents and children age 6 months to 2 years, for preschoolers age 3 to 5, and for beginner to more advanced swimmers ages 6 and older. Four sessions of swim lessons are available: June 6-17, June 20-July 1, July 11-22 and July 25-Aug. 5. Classes are Mondays through Fridays for two weeks, with each 30-minute lesson taught by a certified lifeguard. The cost is $60 per child per session for all ages.
Love Municipal Pool is available to book for private parties from 6:30 p.m.-10:45 p.m. daily beginning May 31. To learn more, call the Recreation Division at 325-657-4450.
Pool rules include:
- Swim diapers are required for babies and toddlers.
- Showering before swimming is required.
- Cutoffs or denim are prohibited.
- Outside food and drink are not allowed, except for baby bottles and baby food, and during private parties. Concessions are available for purchase at the pool.
- No running, diving or horseplay.
- No seeds.
- Glass containers are prohibited.
- To ride the slides, swimmers must be at least 48 inches tall and have no jewelry, metal, zippers or anything else that could damage the slide. Life vests or children under the height requirement will not be allowed on the slides.
