Make This Mother's Day a Special One in San Angelo

Mother’s Day is a special time for saying thank you to mothers for all that they do for families throughout the year. To help our readers with ideas for honoring their mothers, we created a list of activities to celebrate this special occasion.

A Meal for Mom

Some restaurants around San Angelo are offering special deals to encourage families to come spend this special day with mom at their preferred restaurants.

Outback, on Sherwood way is offering The Mum’s Choice 3-Course Meal, May 2 through May 8. This first course includes soup or signature salad. For the second course, people can choose an entrée. The choices include the following, and all come with a side except for the pasta dishes.

  • Jumbo Lump Crab topped Victoria’s Filet Mignon
  • Prime Rib (Based on availability.)
  • Scampi Pasta with jumbo lump crab
  • Bacon Bourbon Salmon

And of course, the third course includes dessert. Diners can choose a mini dessert parfait or the salted caramel cookie skillet. They can also upgrade to an Aussie-sized New York-Style Cheesecake or Triple-Layer Carrot Cake for an additional charge.

Applebee’s and Chile’s are offering their regular 2 for $20 deals that can fit the bill of any son or daughter looking to take their mothers out to dinner this weekend.

Buy Mother’s Day Flowers and Gift Baskets

For people looking to send mom flowers, if they go through www.flowershopping.com, they can receive a 10 percent discount off delivery for flower bouquets with guaranteed same day delivery in the San Angelo area. Special offers from the “Fresh Mother’s Day Flower arrangements” include Carnations, Daisies, Pom Poms, and many more selections. Offers start at around $51.95 for the arrangements.

Also, if people would rather go with a sweeter bouquet, they can visit http://www.cookiesbydesign.com/mothers-day-gifts, and save $10 on any orders exceeding $50 with the promo code:MOMSAVE10.

Go to the movies

Cinemark and Icon Cinema don't have any specific offers available for Mother’s Day, but it would still be a great opportunity to watch any new movies with your favorite person.

Note: Previously, we wrote Cinemark offers a Reel Deal on Mondays, but apparently that doesn't apply to San Angelo. Therefore, the only deals to be had locally are $5 Tuesday. Both Icon Cinema and Cinemark offer this deal, so that is still an option for people looking for entertainment after the weekend.

Go for ice cream

After going out to dinner or watching a movie, why not take time to go eat some of mom’s favorite ice cream? Marble Slab and Iggy’s Italian Ice provides different kind of ice cream combinations that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Iggy’s has two locations, one on 133 E Concho Ave, #160, and the other at 3315 Sherwood Way. Marble Slab is also located at 4553 Sherwood Way across from the Cinemark movie theater.

Go to breakfast/brunch

Last but not least, families can start off the day with some great breakfast and brunch locations around San Angelo. Donutopia offers some great opportunities to try new and exciting donut flavors like the popular red velvet donut. It's located at 2563 Sunset Dr.

If your family prefers to sit in for brunch, try a location like the local Ihop located at 4302 College Hills Blvd.

Whatever families decide to do this Mother’s Day, make sure to spend it doing an activity that the whole family would love. And more importantly, show love towards that special lady who has been there since day one.
