ASU Multicultural Center Celebrates Diversity

 

A press release from Angelo State University’s Multicultural Center announced that they will host a wide range of events to celebrate Spring Diversity Week 2016 Monday-Friday, April 25-29, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

With the theme “Deconstructing Labels,” events will include:

Monday, April 25

  • Women’s Happy Hour and Diversity Dialogue, 2-4 p.m. in the Multicultural Center, Room 114 of the University Center, with smoothies and activities

  • Selena Tribute karaoke and dance, 8-10 p.m., University Center Lobby

Tuesday, April 26

  • Asian-Pacific Islander Heritage Celebration, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., University Center Lobby; education, activities and food representing the Polynesian kingdom of Tonga

  • Men’s Tie Tuesday and Women’s Little Black Dress Day, reception 1-3 p.m., Multicultural Center. Wear black in support of sexual assault awareness. “Wearing a little black dress does not mean yes.”

  • The Divine Nine Presentation, 6-7 p.m., Nasworthy Suite, University Center

  • Grupo Folklorico Mextli performance, 7-8 p.m., University Center Lobby

Wednesday, April 27

  • Men’s Happy Hour and Diversity Dialogue, 2-4 p.m., Multicultural Center, with smoothies and activities

  • The Divine Nine, 6-7 p.m., Nasworthy Suite, step demonstration and lecture

  • UCPC Talent Show, 7-9 p.m., C.J. Davidson Conference Center, University Center

Thursday, April 28

  • The Real Deal Soul Food Program, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Multicultural Center, celebrating African-American culture with food and activities

Friday, April 29

  • Hispanidad: Loteria and Agua Frescas, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Multicultural Center, refreshments, candy and giveaways 

In addition to the Multicultural Center, sponsors include the ASU Title IX Office, University Center Program Council, Housing and Residential Programs Office, First-Generation RAMS Mentor Program, American Association of American University Women, Association of Mexican-American Students, Brotherly Love, Gamma Psi Omega, HeForShe, Multicultural Advisory Council, NAACP of Angelo State and The Pride Project.
