Two cars collided in the middle of South Abe Street at 2:20 p.m. this afternoon, sending one San Angelo woman to the hospital with a possible broken arm, police said.
According to San Angelo police, a 1999 Toyota van was southbound on Abe with a male driver, a female passenger, and an infant in one of the rear seats, safely strapped into a child safety seat. Suddenly, roaring out of the west was a green Honda Accord attempting to cross Abe from Ave. J, near Pinkie’s Liquor Store.
Police believe the Honda didn’t yield the right-of-way to the busy north-south thoroughfare and drove into the path of the van.
The cars collided, sending debris everywhere.The van left the roadway and took out shrubbery and a street sign.
EMS tended to the driver of the Honda quickly and whisked her away to Shannon Medical Center. Over the radio, EMS indicated that the female had a broken arm.
The driver of the van complained of pain, but refused service at the scene. The van’s two passengers, including the infant, were not injured, police said.
There was no indication that the Honda or the van was coming from the nearby liquor store.
