A San Angelo Driver Rolls His Car on East Loop 306

At approximately 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, the driver of a gray 2008 Pontiac Vibe rolled his vehicle into a median on East Loop 306 after losing control, said a DPS trooper.

The trooper said the driver was traveling northbound on the Loop in the outside lane at an unsafe speed. He had debris blowing up onto his windshield, so he attempted to change lanes. During that attempt, the driver lost traction and control, prompting the vehicle to go into a spin and overturn into the median.

The DPS trooper noted that the driver did not sustain life-threatening injuries and refused treatment at the scene.

The official also clarified that the driver was not speeding, but rather “driving at an unsafe speed.”

“When you’re traveling at an unsafe speed, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re speeding. It means you’re traveling at a speed that’s unsafe for road conditions,” stated the trooper.

In this case, the driver should have reduced his speed because of the loose gravel. As a result, he received a citation.

Of course he received a citation, he wasn't driving a more expensive vehicle. Drive a more expensive vehicle in San Angelo and you can pretty much do what you want: Crash into buildings, flip your car in the Red Arroyo, wreck your truck into trees and just leave it there...
