It’s that time once more for the crazy crowds and rush to get the best deals for the holidays. Although Black Friday is no longer truly such with stores opening Thanksgiving Day and allowing for early shopping online, there are still those people who will be in line in the early morning hours to maintain the tradition of tackling those holiday shopping lists for the right bargain.
To help with that list, San Angelo LIVE! has outlined some of the top bargains, primarily electronics, to be on the lookout for. Additionally, the San Angelo Police Department has provided some tips to ensure Black Friday shopping remains a fun and safe family experience.

The parking lot at Walmart on Sherwood Way was completely full when the deals began, and by 9 p.m., items that were stacked in the center aisles for people to grab a hold of were empty.
“We’re finally dying down,” said one cashier who had to work through the Thanksgiving opening madness.

As the busiest shopping day of the year (Well, before stores started opening on Thanksgiving Day.) that means an increase in crime. To ensure shoppers avoid being the victim of crime, Officer Zach Upton with the San Angelo Police Department offered these tips to ensure a safe Black Friday shopping experience.
- Always shop with a friend or family member.
- Do not buy more than you can carry.
- Don’t carry a purse or wallet. Only carry your Driver’s License and one credit card. Keep them in your front pocket.

- Select a central meeting place.
- Teach them to know they can ask mall personnel or store security employees if they need help.
- Have them memorize or keep your cell phone number handy.
- Take a picture of your children right before you leave to go shopping. This way you have a photo of exactly what they look like and what they are wearing.
