USDA Offers Low-Interest Loans for Texas Producers After July Storms

SAN ANGELO, TX — The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the availability of low-interest physical loss loans for agricultural producers in Texas who suffered damage from severe storms, straight-line winds and flooding in July 2025.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the loans are administered through the Farm Service Agency and are intended to help producers repair or replace property essential to agricultural operations. Eligible losses may include damage to farm buildings, fixtures, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, fruit- and nut-bearing trees, and harvested or stored crops and hay.

The disaster designation covers damage caused by severe weather events that occurred from July 12 through July 14, 2025. The application deadline for physical loss loans is Aug. 16, 2026.

Primary counties eligible for the assistance are Maverick, Real, Schleicher and Sutton counties. Producers in contiguous counties are also eligible, including Bandera, Concho, Crockett, Dimmit, Edwards, Irion, Kerr, Kimble, Kinney, Menard, Tom Green, Uvalde, Val Verde, Webb and Zavala counties.

USDA officials said producers can use online tools available through farmers.gov to explore disaster assistance options and determine eligibility. Producers may also contact their local USDA Service Center for additional information or to file a notice of loss.

The announcement was issued Dec. 22 as part of the federal disaster assistance process for agricultural producers impacted by natural disasters.
