Angelo State Volleyball Wins LSC Tournament Opener 

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The top-seeded Angelo State University volleyball team won its opening match at the Lone Star Conference Tournament on Thursday with a 25-20, 25-23, 25-14 victory over No. 8 seed Texas A&M-Kingsville at the Junell Center.

Julia Hopkins led the Belles with 10 kills while adding three blocks and five digs.

Madi Parrish had nine kills and seven digs, and Demi Carter added five kills and two blocks.

Cate Boldrick and Hannah Spencer turned in great performances in the middle. Boldrick had four kills and a team-high five blocks, while Spencer converted had three kills and three blocks.

Gabi Ashcraft led the Belles with 15 assists, while fellow setter Madison Scrivner tallied a double-double with 11 assists and 11 digs.

Libero Ireland Ferguson led all players with a match-high 18 digs.

The Belles improved to 22-7 with their ninth straight win. They will face fifth-seed UT Tyler in the LSC semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
